McDonald's Is Launching a New Happy Meal With Adorable Collectible Toys

People who like McDonald's know how fun it is to open a Happy Meal. A shiny new toy inside the box of McNuggets or a Big Mac makes you feel excited as you take them out of the box. There's no such thing as being too old to enjoy a Happy Meal, even though they're usually made for kids.

The fast food company is putting out an adult Happy Meal for the second year in a row. This year's box has a new version of the popular toy line from the 1980s and 1990s called McNugget Buddies. The new McDonald's meal, called the "Kerwin Frost Box," was made with artist and DJ Kerwin Frost.

The first group of McNugget Buddies came out in 1988. The upcoming collectibles called "reimagined" were inspired by Kerwin's youth and how important it is to express yourself. The people in the story live in "Frost Way."

Kerwin Frost is the mayor of Frost Way, Don Bernice is the "Wise Stylist," Uptown Moe is the "Neighborhood Hero," Waffutu is the "Curious Optimist," BRRRICK is the "Cool Guy," and Darla is the "Dreamer."

McDonald's made its first adult Happy Meal last year. It was called the "Cactus Flea Market Box." The boxes were made in collaboration with the fashion brand Cactus Plant Flea Market.

In a press release, Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer for McDonald's USA, said, "Fans told us they wanted to celebrate that ideal childhood experience again."

"So, we're excited to team up with Kerwin on this next take, as he brings his own childhood McDonald's memories to life through reimagined McDonald's characters, immersing our fans in the world of Frost Way."

McDonald's and Frost are releasing limited-edition goods, such as the Fry Guy shoes seen on the Kerwin Frost toy and new Kerwin Frost boxes. These will include things from the McNugget Buddy collection.

Some of the money made from this collection of merchandise will go to the Harlem Arts Alliance, a non-profit in Frost's hometown of Harlem, New York, that helps both new and known artists. The stuff can be bought on Frost's website starting December 11.
